Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I do if my child is ill?
If your child is ill/sick, KEEP THEM HOME. Monitor them for at least 24 hours, and if their symptoms have improved or stayed the same, they are able to return back to care. If the symptoms are getting worse, or new symptoms develop within the 24 hour period, it is advised to seek medical care. Please do NOT send your child to care if they are taking medications for fever.
  • Do you offer the federal-provincial grant and subsidy?
Yes, as a Licensed Family Dayhome Agency under Children Services, any Educator approved under our agency is able to offer their families access to the federal provincial grant, and childcare subsidy.
  • How much notice do I need to give to withdraw my child from care?
The agency’s standard notice period is 30 days from when written notice is given.
  • How often do I get paid?
Our SPICE’d Educators get paid TWICE a month, by the 7th (parent portion) and then by the 15th (government payout).
  • What is your agency Fee?
Our agency fee is 10% of what parents pay *Before subsidy and grant is applied*
  • Am I eligible for top up wage with your agency?
All ECE’s in Alberta who are certified as a minimum of Level 1 are eligible for top up with our agency.
  • Can I set my own rates?
Absolutely! We understand and know that every Educator caters to many families, therefore, each family may require something different than “typical” care. Therefore, we encourage educators to set their own rates for all their childcare needs!
  • How long does the approval process take?
Our approval process is split into 3 parts and can range anywhere from 1 week to 2 months; depending on how quickly you would like to be approved with the agency. Please note that the process can be longer if there is a wait-list.
